We are excited to announce that Kindergarten teachers and
students from the Park Early School class of 2007-2008 are featured in a new
children's show from THE JIM HENSON COMPANY produced in partnership
with KCET (public television Los Angeles). "Sid the Science Kid" --
which debuted on PBS KIDS(r) on Labor Day -- is an entertaining new
animated children's television series promoting exploration, discovery
and science readiness among preschoolers. The show celebrates the
curiosity of its young viewers and encourages them to explore the
opportunities for discovering the foundations of science in everyday
occurrences, such as melting popsicles and sneezing. Each
animated half-hour show features a short segment of "real" teachers and
students doing simple science experiments. Park Early teachers and
children appear in 18 episodes!"

Elizabeth P. Wallinger Named Principal at Claremont

The Ossining Union Free School District is pleased to announce that, after a thorough interview process that included a committee of teachers, parents, administrators, and Board of Education members, Elizabeth P. Wallinger has been named the principal of Claremont School, effective August 14, 2008. Wallinger has served as assistant principal at Anne M. Dorner Middle School in Ossining since August 2000. Claremont's previous principal resigned this summer.

"We are so pleased that Liz has accepted this new challenge," said Superintendent Dr. Phyllis Glassman. "We know she will serve our fourth and fifth graders, their parents, guardians and families, and our entire community, well. She has impressed us with her focus on the whole child and on equitable educational outcomes for all."

Wallinger began her career in the New York City school system, teaching language arts and reading and serving as the coordinator for the Gates program. After co-authoring a proposal to establish a mini-school within MS 135, Wallinger served as coordinator of that program.  She went on to become a staff developer and then assistant principal at MS 135.

During her time in Ossining, Wallinger has had a distinguished career. She has participated in the English Language Arts Literacy Cabinet, served on several committees, acted as liaison for the Social Studies Audit Report, presented workshops to middle school parents and guardians, and coordinated many initiatives. More recently, she worked proactively with teachers and administrators to develop the new Professional Growth Plan. In addition, Wallinger provided leadership for the past two summers as principal for the Anne M. Dorner Middle School ELA/Math Extended Year Support Program, where she worked collaboratively with teachers and teaching assistants to develop a program that would meet the needs of each student during the summer months.  Additionally, Wallinger worked with teachers and school counselors to create specific goals relative to each and every individual student.

As AMD Principal Regina Cellio said, "Her work goes beyond the walls of AMD."
